NEXT STEP FOUNDATION – ANNUAL REPORT TO THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS
FOR FY2009
This annual report shall encompass the period of January 1, 2009 – December 31, 2010.
2009 was an exciting and productive year for Next Step Foundation Inc.
The year was full of challenges based mainly on on the state budget crisis.
Despite financial challenges, Next Step Foundation continued to provide services thanks to generous donations from the Pittsburgh Foundation and individuals like David and Mary Louise Peters.
We completed construction and are awaiting state inspection on our Outpatient Treatment Center.
We completed annual training for CPR and communicable diseases and began Certified Recovery Specialist training for key staff members.
We welcomed new clinical staff and initiated or finalized the hiring process for 4 new licensed therapists who will work from the Outpatient Treatment Center.
We contracted a Psychiatrist, Dr. Eugene Ortiz, MD, Associate Medical Director of Community Care Behavioral Health to work out of our new Outpatient Treatment Center.
We hired a full time Nursing Staff Member to oversee the self administration of our clients medication and to ensure that we are in compliance with all state regulations.
We saw great success in the development of our Opiate Addicted Pregnant Woman's Program, and welcomed 4 new babies as the newest members of Next Step Foundation's extended family. We have great pride in being part of the process of bringing new life into the world while assisting this underserved population of recovering persons.
We also continue to work closely with Allegheny County Jail to provide housing for Trauma Informed Female Offenders.
